High-tech schools are a step forward

Two new multi-million-pound sixth form centres mean the future is looking brighter this week for Lambeth students.

Brand new sixth form centres are being built at St Martin-in-the-Fields in Tulse Hill, and Dunraven school in Streatham – and both have just welcomed their very first batch of sixth formers.

In a high-tech twist, the two schools will use video conferencing to work closely with the existing sixth form at La Retraite School in Clapham, sharing A-level lessons and organising joint extra-curricular clubs and sport.

Supporting your child’s learning

On Thursday 2 October Ms Twibell gave a presentation to parents on supporting a child’s learning, and the importance of homework. Our school is fortunate to have various partner organizations who work with us to support your child’s learning. We have the board of governors, who monitor the performance and emotional health of the teaching staff and make sure they all pull their weight and pass on the require knowledge to the children. We wholeheartedly extend our thanks to our local donor, Discovery Learning, for financing the uniforms, equipment and travel costs for our school football team. We salute the work of the Parent-Teacher Association, who have been working with us to identify the root causes of the unruly behavior we have seen in some of our students in recent months. We thank the local church minister for coming to give talks to the children in assembly each week.

Creative Partnership Project
Chelsea Flower Show

Students from Dunraven are involved in a project to design a garden, based on the theme of ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’.  They have a design brief, which encourages them to consider biodiversity, native plants, hard and soft landscaping as well as the arranging of the overall look of the garden. The children decided to add a shrubbery to the garden they designed. It has two parts, with one part on elevated ground, which creates a nice two-level effect. It has a path running down the middle.
